How did you feel when you started volunteering?

‘’I was very nervous in the beginning. I had this fear of how am I going to talk to new people in an organization? How will I stand in front a class or group of people? And how will I be as a teacher and had concerns about delivering my first lesson.’’

What have you gained from volunteering on the Talk English project?

‘’I got to meet new people, established new professional contacts. In terms of my achievements I can now independently plan the lessons according to the need of the learners. ‘’

What impact has the training and experience you gained through this project had on your skills, employability and/or personal well-being.

“I enjoy teaching and I look forward to coming into QED every week and meeting my learners. It gives me satisfaction at a personal level. I feel like I am making a difference to the community. I am happy to be of help to people with matters related to their daily lives and work with them to reduce their language
barrier.”

What do you want to do in the future?

‘’I would like to continue with QED and get a teaching certificate at Level 4 to entre professional teaching sector. I have attended a counselling course at Level-2 at Bradford College and am near finishing BA in Islamic Studies (in Arabic & English).‘’
