The efforts of those who work in the public sector can often be overlooked. Aside from the more high-profile specialised areas of health and education, there are many South Asians achieving great things working for the Government, in local and regional authorities, the police and emergency services and so on.
The YAYAs aim to bring out those stories of people who have shown great courage in their roles or who have led the way in important areas from planning to infrastructure management, from organising resources to leading a department or organisation.
The list is endless but all our candidates will have one thing in common: they will be making a difference to the lives of others on the public payroll and the public generally.
