Success and achievement are not just about making great careers or the income to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle. For many, making a public contribution, either by volunteering or working in a charity or not-for-profit organisation is an even more important sign of achievement.

Making a difference to the lives of others is an enriching and fulfilling goal in its own right and there are many South Asians beavering away to achieve this without recognition or reward.

It may be someone who works behind the scenes to make things happen, a young man or woman who takes up the cause of others without any thought of reimbursement or recognition, who gives freely and willingly of their time and energy, who comes up with new and innovative ways to improve or develop the lives of their neighbours.

These are the stories are judges are hoping to uncover, the young people whose unselfish efforts surpass all boundaries and challenges and render social divisions unimportant.
