Following QED-UK’s successful completion of the two year Pensions Education Programme which ended in March 2008, additional funding has been made available to extend the Programme until March 2009.
The Pensions Education Programme aims to to increase financial awareness among members of the South Asian community in the UK - particularly in the Yorkshire region - so as to help them make better plans for their retirement.
QED-UK is creating innovative DVD materials using successful ethnic minority role models who have planned successfully for their retirement. The DVDs explain the importance of such planning, the reasons why it is so critical, the way perceived barriers to longer term saving can be overcome, and the options now available. These DVDs communicate in ethnic minority languages thus overcoming some of the cultural barriers that prevent ethnic minorities accessing mainstream services.
The programme specifically targets ethnic minority men and women including young people, the self employed, and individuals working for small to medium sized enterprises, the service sector, retail, distribution, food, restaurants and business services.
The DVDs will be used to stimulate interest in individuals who will be invited to a presentation and/or one-to-one sessions to move interest into an action plan for retirement income. QED-UK's target is for 400 to attend presentations, and for 50 to have one-to-one sessions and commit to a plan for retirement.
These presentations will be organised by QED-UK working with employers to reach their employees.
You can watch the English language version of the DVD here if you wish.
