Waterways Trust welcomes aboard Adeeba

The Waterways Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Adeeba Malik MBE as its new Trustee.

Adeeba Malik MBEMs Malik is Deputy Chief Executive of Bradford-based QED-UK, a national economic development charity that aims to improve the social, economic and educational position of minority ethnic groups.

Ms Malik also chairs the DTI's national Ethnic Minority Business Forum, is involved in local, regional and national committees and boards covering enterprise, health, learning and education, and community development. Previously, she was a board member of the regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward and British Waterways.

Frances Done, Chairman of The Waterways Trust, said: "I am delighted to welcome Adeeba to the board of Trustees. Adeeba has extensive experience of working with major public and private companies on equality and diversity projects and her appointment further broadens the wealth of experience and expertise available to the Trust. With her support we will continue to work to ensure that everyone within the community is able to realise the great potential of our inland waterways."

Adeeba Malik, newly appointed Trustee, said: "I am delighted to become involved with The Waterways Trust. I am keen to help the Trust in its efforts to involve more people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds with our waterways and look forward to working with the board and the Trust's dedicated team of staff and volunteers to promote the benefits of the UK's waterway network."
