QED's Adeeba Malik receives MBE - 'A well-deserved honour', says QED's Mohammed Ali

Adeeba Malik MBE
Adeeba Malik, Deputy Chief Executive of Bradford-based charity QED-UK, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for her services to ethnic minority communities.

Adeeba was born and brought up in Bradford, where her parents arrived from Pakistan in the 1960s. She qualified as a teacher and worked in all-white schools before leaving teaching to join QED in 1992. QED is a leading national charity, set up in 1990 to campaign for the advancement of the educational, social and economic development of minority ethnic groups, with a particular focus on those of South Asian origin. Adeeba has been responsible for developing a number of key projects that implement the vision of QED.

She is a board member of the regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, the Ethnic Minority Business Forum and British Waterways, among others.

Mohammed Ali OBE, founder and Chief Executive of QED, said:

'We want to congratulate Adeeba on this well-deserved honour - an award that also demonstrates that QED is widely recognised as a leader in its field. In last year's UK Charity of the Year award, we were the only ethnic-minority-led charity out of the four finalists. The QED campaign continues!'

Adeeba has dedicated her award to her father, who died two years ago and would have been very proud of her achievements.
